INSTRUCTIONS
LAYER MASKS AND LASSO TOOLS
Fig. 1.1 - Using Mask Tool And Lasso Tool To Place Tables In A Living Room |
We were given an overview of Adobe Photoshop and briefed on how to use each tool. The lasso, the polygonal lasso, and the magnetic lasso, each of which is more effective for specific pictures, were necessary in order to create layer masks. To further integrate the photos into the overall composition, we placed a shadow beneath them.
BLEND MODES
Fig. 2.1 - Blending Shazam in Hearst Mansion |
Using the quick selection tool, the character was masked, and the mask was then improved with the brush and refine edges tools. The character was then enlarged and added to the scene. To better integrate him into the backdrop, several blend modes and colour correction were used. He was accompanied by a shadow behind him and a pool reflection. To make the reflection appear like water, ripple and gaussian blur effects were added, and noise filters were employed to adjust the picture quality to match the backdrop.
RECOLOURING
Fig. 3.1 - Recolored Black And White Image |
Using the quick selection tool and the refine edge tool to further refine the selection. To provide a more realistic appearance, several masks were applied to various solid fill layers, and the colours were chosen from genuine reference photographs.
DOUBLE EXPOSURE
Fig. 4.1 - Double Exposure |
By making layer masks, applying curves, and overlaying a gradient map over the whole black-and-white image, it is possible to generate a fascinating colour effect. To complete the aesthetic, a few further components were added.
DISPLACEMENT MAPS

Fig. 5.2 - Displacement Map Face |
Fig. 5.3 - Displacement Map Flag |
We discovered different applications for displacement maps. It may be used to modify an image's texture, convincingly apply pictures to intricate surfaces, and make flat images resemble folded fabric. Blend modes perform best when combined with the displacement map appearance.
SPOT HEAL, HEAL, PATCH, CONTENT-AWARE FILL, DODGE AND BURN
Fig. 6.5 - Photo Manipulation Cyborg |
Utilising the bevel and emboss effects to make it appear 3D, masking off portions of the body, inserting a metallic image beneath, and using the pen tool to use it as a stroke selection. As a result, the skin is synthetic and cyborg-like.
AFTER EFFECTS

Fig. 7.3 - Frame Animation |
A single image has to be divided into several layers using masks and content-aware fills in order to build animations in Adobe Photoshop. Using those layers, we learned how to make parallax video animations.

REFLECTION
These tasks were quite beneficial when I was first learning about new tools and processes in Photoshop and After Effects. Despite the fact that I was previously familiar with both of these programs, the in-class activities helped me hone and polish my skills while also motivating me to approach difficulties imaginatively.
